MEMORIAL DAY FLY-IN CANCELLED

We regret to have to make the decision to cancel tomorrow's picnic and fly-in...but in the interest of safety and enjoyment we feel the decision is the right one. Winds are forecast to be 40 mph with gusts in excess of 50 mph. Not safe for our aircraft and not much fun for a picnic.

The hosts (Tobias, Turner, Murphy, and Quick families) will be looking at a new date to reschedule this event and will post details as soon as possible.

Please remember our Veteran's tomorrow and keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Field Update--May 29, 2011

Field is in the best shape it's been in probably a decade. Dry with excellent grass coverage, and we just finished rolling it last week, so it's good & smooth. Plan is for taxiway to be marked on West edge of runway and parking just West of the taxiway.

The only problem we see now is the Kansas WIND.

Airport board of directors are canvassing today to determine the best course of action, as the forecast doesn't look too promising.

Fly-In 2010 Photos

Although we had a soggy day, many people joined us for some food, flying, and fun.

There were lots of splashes.

Several grills kept the food coming to hungry by-standers and pilots.

Of course, we had plenty of antique aircraft!

Thanks, everyone, for coming, and we're putting our request in for no rain earlier this year! Hope to see everyone on Memorial Day!

Field Report--May 31, 2010

The field is freshly mowed with great turf coverage. Received 1.1 inches of rain last night, so there are some wet spots (standing water in a few small areas). Field drains well, except for a couple of low spots near the midpoint of the runway and then a strip off the west edge of the runway at the south end.

Aircraft parking will be at North end of field.

USE CAUTION: Parking areas are pretty soft with less turf coverage.

If you're unable to fly in, we'd still love to have you join us, just drive on out...there will still be lots of food and fun on this perfect weather day!
